Spoiler-free Plot: A forensic pathologist Kang Min-ho investigates a dismembered and decapitated corpse found by a river body in close co-ordination with the police. Meanwhile, his daughter, who was supposed to return from the US, is kidnapped by the suspect of the murder case, Lee Sung-ho. Lee blackmails Kang to free him, convincing him that his daughter would be the next victim otherwise. The movie then shows how far Kang goes to save his only daughter, only to discover all is not what it seems.....
Spoiler-free Analysis: Korean movies are typically known for their unpredictable plots and brave endings, unlike the cliches and the typical "happy endings" which abound in Hollywood. While this movie does score some points for its bleak ending (viewers will be reminded of Oldboy) and a few grisly and uncompromisingly brutal scenes, there are a few plotholes not expected in Korean movies. However,it does have some heart pounding moments along with a few occasional twists thrown in. For viewers not accustomed to Korean movies, some scenes might make them feel like puking. The ending, though a little unrealistic, will have a lingering effect on the viewer, and drive home the fact that taking revenge is easier than forgiveness.
Final Rating - 3.5/5
